The first blow of my hammer unleashed a passion for stone carving that has lasted a lifetime, resulting in the sensuous forms evident in my body of work. Using the subtractive process, the medium’s inner beauty is revealed. Humans have used alabaster and limestone to communicate with us visually through the ages. The first human art is dated at 40,000 years old! I find the romance of stone carving irresistible and love the historical tradition of this medium.
My works in stone, wood, and glass are influenced by a love of and appreciation for nature. Biophilia is defined as our need to be connected to nature. My themes include “Reef Series” and “Biophilia Series” to raise awareness of the importance of our being a part of nature, not apart from nature.
