Statement

What is primary for me is the exploration and expression, through three-dimensional form, of what I define as essential movement. Life cannot exist without movement. It is a fundamental aspect of being human, of existing in the universe; being a part of the constant but ever-changing cycle of life. My sculptures are fundamentally informed by my experience both as a dancer and as a poet.  I aim to create works that have intrinsic flow, that shape the space.  Through my sculptures I try to express a poetic sensibility, some essential meaning. I want to create art that fundamentally “moves”, resonating in body and mind, heart and eye.  Working in stone, for me, is a way of profoundly joining in that intrinsic movement.  What lies beneath the surface, at its core, and then revealed through stone carving, is fundamentally what I resonate with, what intrigues and informs my creative process.
